Can a woman perform wudhu (ablution) in front of a non-Mahram person with whom marriage is halal according to Islam?

Hawzah News Agency-Grand Ayatollah Wahid Khorasani answers some questions regarding wudhu:

 

Question- Can a woman perform wudhu (ablution) in front of a non-Mahram person with whom marriage is halal according to Islam?

Answer: It is haram if it is done in a way that her hair or body is exposed to the non-Mahram men.

Question - Is the method of wudhu for women different from that of men?

Answer: There is no difference in the wajibat (obligatory acts) but it is recommended that women should start washing their arms from the forearm and the men should begin from the elbow.

Question - Can a woman perform wudhu with nail polish on?

Answer: No, wudhu is not valid with nail polish on or with any other thing that obstructs water in a way that it cannot reach the parts of body wudhu is performed on.

Question - Can a woman apply nail polish on all her toe nails and leave one out for masah (wiping)?

Answer: It is permissible for wudhu but for ghusl she will have to remove it.
